Or read my experience below how to remove & install. The parts are a tapered press fit together. So, you are removing a tight fitted and placing it back together. If you have WD40, long plumber's pipe wrench, heavy hammer (not a rubber hammer), newspaper (optional), small box or trash can & someone to help you. Simply tip the chair over (on carpet or rug) where the leg base is facing up.Remove the clip from the bottom of the center column, pull & slide up the leg base with column off of the cylinder (there will be some greasy small parts of washers that may fall to floor (this is where newspaper is optional).Spray plenty WD40 into the crease where the Gas Cylinder meets the Mechanism Seat Plate, use the heavy hammer to knock the cylinder to vibrate the WD40 into the creaseSpray plenty WD40 into the crease where the center column meets the leg base and knock the center column to vibrate the WD40 into the crease.Take a 5 to 10 minute break, letting the WD40 penetrate the parts.Go back to the chair with gas cylinder, have someone hold the chair firmly to the ground while you place the long plumbers pipe wrench on the cylinder (this is the hard part) turn/twist & pull the cylinder out of the mechanism. Clean the WD40 from the mechanism seat plate.Grab the leg base with column, turn upside down, have you and someone hold the leg base on a counter by placing couple of the legs on the counter, have a box or trash can on the floor under the column, strike the bottom of the column with the heavy hammer until it shoots out (watch out for your toes if your not using a box or trash can) clean the WD40 from the leg base.If your chair have a Telescope Lift Cover (decorative cover) place it on the new gas cylinder before you install it into the chair.Place the new gas cylinder into the chair seat mechanism, place the leg base onto the gas column and have someone help you lift the chair upright and give it a good seat to seal.
